Launch of educational kits on healthy, sustainable and fair food: moving towards a transformative educational model
Justicia Alimentaria and Hegoa present their educational kits on healthy, fair and sustainable food, a set of educational resources designed for current and future teachers committed to promoting the right to food.
As part of the AlimentAcción socio-educational programme, our organisations have been collaborating in recent years with education departments in different regions of Spain. Through actions linked to teaching, research, governance and community engagement, we work with university communities and social actors to examine how the current food system impacts the environment, health and the living conditions of people and communities across the global North and South.
The work of the AlimentAcción Network is carried out as part of the current project “Critical and Transformative University: An ecosocial and ecofeminist approach to the climate and social crisis, with the Right to Food as the driving force for change”, funded by the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID).
The educational kits with a food sovereignty approach are versatile educational resources that contain transformative methodologies and diverse materials (games, readings, worksheets, activities) rooted in critical and transformative pedagogies and that enable the educational community to address issues such as agri-food systems or responsible food consumption in an interactive way at different stages of education.
At the end of 2025, the “Give the school a vegetable garden” kit was presented, based on a series of interdisciplinary learning situations for working with the school garden in Early Childhood Education and in the three cycles of Primary Education. At the beginning of 2026, in January, the kits “Activities for Early Childhood Education” and “Educational methodologies for a critical and transformative education” were presented.
Lastly, on 3 March 2026, ecofeminism-focused educational kit will be presented online.
