Hegoa and CDRE (UPPA) exchange experiences on decentralized development cooperation

On December 14th (10:30 - 14:00) a working seminar on decentralised development co-operation took place, with the participation of Géraldine Bachoué and Maitena Poelemans from the Centre de Documentation et de Recherches Européennes (CDRE) of the Université de Pau et des Pays de l'Adour (UPPA) and Jorge Gutiérrez, Irati Labaien, Eduardo Malagón, Andrés Herrera, Iratxe Amiano and Michel Sabalza from the Hegoa Institute (UPV/EHU). In addition, cooperation representatives from the Donostia (Silvia Carballo) and Baiona (Etienne Boutonnet) City Councils, and a representative from the French NGO SO Coopération (Magalie Noguès) participated in the activity.

The seminar was held at the Faculty of Economics and Business – Gipuzkoa section of Donostia and was also followed virtually by students of the Master in European and International Studies of the UPPA.

Among other topics, international cooperation at the level of France, decentralised development co-operation at the international level, at the level of Spain and the Basque Country, at the level of Baiona and Donostia, and at the level of an NGO, SO Coopération, were addressed.

The activity is part of the research project Study on decentralized development cooperation: an international perspective, financed by The Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa.
