Eco-social transitions and alternatives to the systemic crisis. Experiences of transition based on the SSE in the Andean region.
The concept of eco-social transitions has taken centre stage in current debates as they represent a response to the ecological, economic and social crises we face today. Responding to the climate crisis, biodiversity loss and inequality requires a radical transformation in the structuring of our societies and economies.
The online seminar aims to contribute to this approach of creating multidimensional frameworks for change, designed to jointly address today’s challenges of ecological sustainability, economic well-being and social justice. Yayo Herrero and Miriam Lang will address dimensions of this approach by analysing the current situation with proposals aimed at this necessary transformation.
In addition, a book will be presented which documents seven experiences of the Social and Solidarity Economy in the Andean region that in one way or another are contributing to the eco-social transition of their territories. These experiences were systematised as part of a cooperation, research and transfer project of the Hegoa Institute (UPV/EHU) with partner academic institutions in each Andean country.
