Hegoa supports the public pronouncement of the teachers, researchers and scholars of Peruvian politics
A group of teachers, researchers and scholars of Peruvian politics has spoken publicly to express their rejection of the acts of repression and disproportionate violence by the government of Dina Boluarte and Alberto Otárola. The repression of the social protest has resulted in a total of 55 people dead and 1,200 injured. In addition, last weekend 200 arbitrary arrests were made at the National University of San Marcos (UNMSM), the main public university in the country.
Hegoa expresses its solidarity with the San Marcos community, with which we have been linked by ties of collaboration for years, and adds its support to this pronouncement along with the intellectuals and academics who have done the same, many of them recognised in the social and human rights field throughout Latin America.
